During two days, professionals from organisations from 5 European countries have met in Burgos in the framework of the study visit of the European project Care4Autism. The project aims to improve the quality of life of adults with autism and their families through the exchange of good practices.
Representatives of entities from Belgium, Greece, Italy and Latvia have met in Burgos to participate in a study visit on the occasion of the European project Care4Autism, in which the Burgos entity Fundación Miradas has acted as host. The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of adults with autism and their families through the exchange of good practices.
During these days, they have known the facilities and the functioning of the foundation and different services of the Asociación Autismo Burgos, a reference at European level. The aim of this meeting has been to show the different partners of the project which are the main programmes and services available for adults with autism in Spain, especially in Burgos.
Specifically, they have known the day centre for adults with autism, the housing El Olivo and the Comprehensive Psychosocial Support Service for People with Autism (APITEA). For this, they have counted on the collaboration of professionals who work day by day with people with autism and young people who receive support.
Likewise, the meeting has been useful to carry out workshops of exchange of good practices among the members of the different European entities, as well as to know better the current situation of people with autism in the context of each country. From all this, together with the learnings of the project as a whole, recommendations and proposals of a political nature have been elaborated for their consideration and application in the different countries.
